Geophysical Explorations at Etowah
Starting in 2005 researchers from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma, the Savannah River Archaeological Research Program, Texas State University, and Archaeo-Geophysical Associates, LLC began a multi year study of the Etowah site in northwest Georgia.

So far our team has been successful in locating several structures on the summit of the site’s largest mound (Mound A), as well as structures in the site’s village area, and portions of the site’s defensive wall.

In 2007 we began to survey the entire site with a magnetometer.  We have been successful in locating over 60 structures and several small plaza groups.
